there’s nothing particularly thrilling to me about this LP, but i had it sitting around and figured someone who reads might enjoy this sort of thing, so i ripped it anyway… aren’t i a nice guy?
grabbed this from the Ascension mega-post @ notnotfunnotno the other day but it’s been on repeat non-stop since and too good to not post here, even tho i rarely borrow from other blogs. picture the most fuzzed, tripped out heavy psych band you can imagine. now pretend they stumbled across the most ferocious improv/free-jazz you can imagine and decided to emulate it. but without changing their instrumentation. might give you a small idea what you’re in for here
to say i hated most so-called “industrial” music once the genre became permeated with guitars and more like bad metal with drum machines would be an understatement. this band/album is probably one of the few existing exceptions to that statement.
yes, you read right… Def Leppard. “Pyromania” was my favorite album as a kid until i discovered heavier music. they wrote some kick-ass shit in the 80s. and even in the 70s. there’s an early version of “Wasted” – as perfect a trash-rock classic as ever there was – on here. it’s not quite up to the standards of their “proper” albums, but what band’s early stuff ever is?
and dude is IN A TREE WITH A MACHINEDRUM – that’s all the reason you need right there!
as a matter of fact, possibly the award for “best cover art” while we’re at it
no image for this one. sorry.
somewhere in between their earlier sax-driven stuff and the aggressiveness of “The Hard” ep, you would find this
