Mori-Quinne-Ribot – “Painted Desert”

Posted in Uncategorized by Mogo on April 19, 2008

another Avant outing, though apparently there was legal wrangling over whose names actually wound up on it… the story goes that Quinne put the sessions together, but that one or both of the others refused to allow it to be released without their name adorning it… whatever the case might be, it’s a nice one – sort of an “easy listening” version of the whole Downtown-NY aesthetic, I suppose.

give it a spin

I read in an interview with Robert Quine, that he initiated the session, but due to legal complications (other record contract etc.) couldn’t serve as leader – so Ikue Mori was put in. But I can’t prove it.

This sounds very similar to some of Zorn’s quieter soundtracks, where Mori, Ribot and Quine are often participated.

I’m not sure what you mean… there are 8 tracks on the album and they’re all there…
